AFMC’s Chlamydia Project works to increase preventive screenings to reduce the spread of chlamydia, its complications and its cost. The project’s quality improvement methods are:
- Review of current practice for compliance with recognized chlamydia screening guidelines
- Development of internal quality improvement processes to increase chlamydia screening/testing
- Utilization of appropriate billing forms and codes for chlamydia screening/testing to maximize reimbursement
- Patient education for chlamydia testing, treatment and prevention
- Documentation of chlamydia testing and screening
The project’s indicators are:
- Incorporation of chlamydia screening guidelines into the office practice setting
- Diagnostic testing techniques for the office setting
- Development of office protocol for treatment of patients and partners with recommended antibiotic therapy
